ParticipantHello. We have a bosch fridge. Apx 4 years old I think. I have the manual but the only model info I can see is on the front top right of the fridge “Bosch economic”.
The problem is it seems to be getting too warm inside before it starts up. We bought a fridge thermometer (DIGITAL). We put the sensor at the top left inside and it seems to reach 10 degrees C before the fridge starts up. When it does start up it drops back down to apx 3 degrees c.
The back plate inside ices up which i think is correct and then drains out (its not blocked) to evaporate in the dish.Do you think its the thermostat?
If so where should I stick it (polite answers only please)
If anyone could help even with where to find a specific model number i’d be grateful.

First thing to do, to give the fridge lads a chance, is find the model number. Pull the salad bins and have a look on the fridge walls. There’s a label. The model number will generally start “K——“.

Hi Simon
The back should ice up app 3/4 way down and then periodicaly will melt and start all over again, thats its normal cycle.
Is this appliance standing free? to the effect that its not under a work top or next to a heat source as this will drastically effect its operation an may cause permanent damage.Greg

Its free standing.
There is space at the back front (obviously and the right side facing.
On the left stand a freezer.I have read on the forums about melting draining and refreezing but the temperature seems too warm inside apx 10 degrees c before the motor kicks in and goes down again.
Thanks Simon

Hi
If it takes a while to come back on but when it does finally activate it reaches acceptable temperature, then it sounds to me like the thermostat.
If this part is required its number is 170459 app £21 + charges available from spares@ukwhitegoods.co.ukUn plug appliance before attempting any repair :plug:

Yes the temperature is correct once its settled down. I think ill give the thermostat a go its cheaper than a new fridge.
Thankyou for your help and Very Very fast response.

One other thing I forgot. Could you tell me where the thermostat is located. Ive changed a thermostat in our tumble drier ( what a job that was) but ive not had the luck to have to dismantle the fridge Until NOW.
Many thanks Simon

Hi R
Right hand side of fridge inner wall with light unit. It can be a fiddle to change 🙂 Take your time.
If in any doubt feel free to use the engineer link below. 😀Greg
