Hi, the warning light on our FF which is now 3+ years old came on indicating there was a danger of the temperature in the freezer getting too warm. When we put a therometer in the freezer, the top shelf was showing -15′ with the 3rd shelf (where the meat is) at -18′; this was with a setting at -18′. Whilst the food does not appear to be thawing, the ice-cream on the top shelf is certainly now more ‘soft scoop’ than it ever used to be and the air in the freezer does not seem to feel as cold as it used to. Having called the Bosch Tech Care Line, we followed their advice which set up an automatic defrost. However, the warning light has come back on and remains on. Is there anything else we can try (that does not require any expertise) before we consider engineer callout/replace the FF.

    Engineer time bunty. 😕

Those electronic ones have a load of sensors in them that can go wrong. On the plus side they’re usually pretty cost-effective to replace but I wouldn’t advise DIY-ing it on one of those machines.

with regards to your bosch ff, if it is a frost free appliance your first line of repair is to manually defrost appliance by turning whole unit off for about 5 days. this is because the evaporater behind the panel in the freezer has over frozen and restricted the air flow. normal cause of this fault is to much moisture drawn in i.e door left open.Bosch tech line were correct but minimum 5 days!!!!
