My oven is about 12 years old and I have noticed that when I set the temp on the Hot air system to 180 the red light which indicates temperature reached does not go off. When I open the oven door to test temp it does not seem very hot. I also tried it on the Conventional system setting and the same thing happens. The grill appears to be working ok???? not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure though.

Any ideas of what this could be?
I am trying to fix it myself to avoid a hefty call out fee.

    Thanks
    Rebecca

The fan element has failed as too has the bottom element. Neither are connected and chances are the bottom element failed a long time ago, you just didn’t realise. You probably use the fan heat mainly and the conventional rarely, probably?

    Thanks Martin
You are correct I never use the Conventional part, just thought I would try it to see if that info helps pinpoint problem. The surface of the oven does get hot when on Conventional setting. Shall I try to replace the fan element first or the fan and bottom element? Is there a good tutorial you could recommend for me to do this?

    Thanks Rebecca

The fan element would be the way forward. With the oven isolated from the mains access to it is from the front. The bottom oven element requires the whole oven coming out and access via back panel removal.

No video tutorial I would EVER recommend. The clowns that put stuff on YouTube are positively suicidal to put it mildly. An oven is a dangerous piece of kit if you don’t know what you are doing. Without prior electrical knowledge I would always recommend you get it sorted by a local independent engineer. Find one in your area by using the engineer search facility on the home page. 😀
