I have a Bosch heat pump dryer, WTW85250GB, which is not heating. Other than that, it appears to be working fine.
it is 6 months past the 5 year warranty, I was wondering if anyone could advise on what the probable problem could be and whether it’s economically worth repairing.

heatpump dryer do not really get hot its more like a luke warm but if yours does not dry or get warm you need to check the compressor is being energised. if it is it should be warm to the touch
its also one of those units that is supposed to be self cleaning but its not 100 percent

lift out the filter inside the door and look down inside. look to see how much fluff residue is covering the evaporator. if its blocked it reduces airflow and therfore drying

be careful its delicate so dont prod at it too hard

I use a length of wire coat hanger to gently pick off the fluff and lift it out but it is time consuming

Just taken a look, it’s covered in wet stuff.
How easy is it to take the front off? That would be the easiest way to clean it I think.

assume the front panel is clipped on somehow but never taken one apart as it seemed a long process

they are supposed to be self cleaning but they are not even 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} efficient in doing then in my opinion, seen lots of them clogged

Thanks Dave. I found a video showing how to strip it down, seems like a huge job, but rather that than throw it away.

Yes this is a full strip down job the both side panels and rear panel need to come off and drum removed to do a proper job
might be worth calling bosch out to it there callout is only £106 and I don’t think you need parts and if they cant fix it they will give you a £50.00 money off voucher for a new appliance

So I did a full stripdown and rebuild and was shocked at how fluff and lint were inside the machine.
All in all it took around 2-3 hours, but we now have a lovely, clean and working dryer.
Is this something that maybe the manufacturers should offer as a service?

Sounds ineteresting but why is that always just out of warranty something has to go wrong?

At bosch it’s called a Swiss clean and when doing this if you have alot of fluff inside the machine this us normally down to the front felt seal falling so it good practice to change it when stripping fown

So just to follow up on this. After my defluff, the machine seemed better, but still not up to scratch. I contacted bosch and an engineer came out, he completely stripped the machine down, more than I could and jet washed the condenser, which was blocked.
So anyone else with a similar issue, its probably a blocked condenser.
