hallo all any one done heaters in these d/w b4,heater in white housing back right.could you give us the sequence to fit one plese,richard.

Model number would help, slightly different technique required on slimline models as opposed to full size.

Hi!
As Jim says, model number would help and slimline is slightly different.
Assuming its a full size one, heres a rough guide to the way i’d tackle it.
Remove the lid by releasing the plastic tabs at the back and slide it backwards.
Remove both side panels by undoing the T20 torx screws either side.
Remove the door panel and then plinth and the steel panel behind it.
Release the tensioners of the door by unhooking them from the hinges.
Remove the retaining blocks from the hinge bearings and lift the whole door off, taking care with all the wiring (Remove it if you preffer)
At this point I would take the opertunity to extract all traces off water from the sump and take some out from the softner too, I find a big syringe usefull for this.
Undo the salt pot nut and remove the 2 plastic clips held to the sump by torx. Also undo the torx holding the upper basket spray arm channel to the sump.
On the left an right hand side are a torx holding the hinges to the tank, undo these.
Looking at the back of the machine are 2 more torx holding the tank to the base remove them.
Take 2 flat blade screwdriveres and place (Not Force) them between the tank and hinge, left and right, this allows them to be splayed sufficiantly to lift the entire tank away from the base, be warned the tank is like a razor! Gloves, old dustsheets advisable if in customers house.
The tank maybe reluctantant to let go of the sump seal so a jiggle of said componants maybe needed!!
You will then see the guts of it all and can remove the sump complete with motor, heater, pump etc once all wires have been disconnected.
You will have to cut the crimped hose clamp between the heater/impellor housing but a new one should be supplied with the new instantanious water heater along with stat and microswitch, diverter and turbidity sensor if fitted.

Only one gap I can spot to an otherwise excellent dismantling summary………that is the careful removal of the water inlet/drain matrix before lifting the tank clear! 😉

It is perfectly simple and practical to turn the machine upside down and remove the base, rather than taking the cavity off. For some reason this seems to amuse people………

Not correcting you Martin but this can remain in place, it only needs to be unstuck from the sticky black insulation to prevent it coming off with the cavity. On the full sized matrix/water tank versions, the cross member supports need removing (just 2 screws) but again the container can remain safely inplace.

Well, i’m going to give this method that Chris has described a try.
I got an old SGS5002 here that is scrap (or soon will be? 😈 ) and i’ll let you all know how i get on. It too needs a heater box.
I know some colleuges preffer to work on dishwashers this way, but I was always told ‘only upside down if its scrap’ when I was an apprentice many years ago 😳
