ParticipantHi,
Over the last week or so we noticed the fridge section of our Bosch fridge freezer getting warmer – to the point on Sunday where the butter came out squidgy (not good).
We’ve had a Bosch engineer out to it today (second fault with the machine since purchase in July, the first a noisy fan) and after a brief look over the machine noticed that the freezer element was frozen up and preventing cold air from reaching the fridge.
He defrosted the freezer element (using the other halfs hairdryer) and then checked all the components to ensure they worked. He said they all checked out and then ‘softly softly’ suggested we may have left the freezer door open causing the freezer element to freeze up. He couldnt work out an alternative explanation.
I dont think we have left the door open, pretty certain in fact. What else could be at fault for this and how can I be sure that the same thing wont happen again?
Advice greatfully received! 😉
Thanks in advance.
Ed

i believe there is a fault with these machines with the drain hole in the freezer section being blocked/not clear . this causes the defrosted ice to stay in the freezer tray and slowly build up on the freezer element , thus leading to the fault you described . If you have to call them out again , get them to check this drain hole

ice doesnt just appear, there needs to be moisture there, which would often suggest introduction of warm air
would be nice if it did though, cos we’d all just put empty ice cube trays in, and theyd come out full of ice!!
‘not me.. i havent done that’
why do people ALWAYS say that.. it has be something introduced, so youve either put something in the freezer thats created a lot of moisture, or the doors gotta have been left open
id be shocked if a bosch engineer was confused.. they are hightly trained, and the appliances are of excellent quality.. and in refrigeration are second to none
hope this helps

Not the same fault but I had a problem with my Bosch larder fridge freezing the food on the lower shelves. When the BSH guy came out he said there was a fault with the thermostats and I wasn’t the only one he had been to. He replaced it and it’s been working fine since.
