ParticipantThe BOSCH KGN34VOO has a manufacturing problem.
I bought one and it was delivered on Tuesday am. I dashed off to work and then set it all up Tuesday PM. On Thursday PM I thought it sounded really loud. Friday PM whilst fixing washing machine problem it was so irritating I switched it off whilst I got on with that.
Turned it back on a couple of hours later.
When I went to spares place for WM parts. I said to them about the new F?F is it a Bosch KGN34Voo asked the man who was helping me with parts.
Come this way…He took me into a work shop that must of had at least 20 of them in all the colours and all the sizes. Does it sound like this one?
Exactly like that.!!!!!!!
You’ll have to contact the shop and get someone out. There is a manufacturing probl;em with one of the fans so they will replace it for you no charge
I think I’ll have a new F?F it’s not even a week old.
That is up to you but you could have 6 before you get a good one. If it doesn’t arrive in the box you won’t know if it’s been fixed or not.
They are coming out next saturday PM and we’ll take it from there.
Interesting thing when I went to the shop. They tried the well It’s a Front free F/F and they do make more noise. Then they said that they would sne d someone out.
The look on the guys face when I told him that I knew that there was a manufacturing problem with them.
I was rather disappointed in the way they dealt with it.
I feel that they should have gone more along the we’ll send an engineer out and see whats what route.
Whether I accept the repair or have a new F/F or get my money back rather depends on how things go next wee.
I will update

unfortunately.. thats only ONE of the known faults with that particular machine, the other one is freezing the food in the salad bins
seemingly, the fan being replaced does tend to cure them (as long as the evaporator pipe isnt pulled too hard to gain access)
personally, id still stick with bosch… go and buy one of those newer type merloni (indsesit/hotpoint) things and u’ll find out what hassle is.
glad the washers repaired now, btw!

We have the 33V00, it appears to be the same but smaller.
Regarding the frozen food problem; we had that and the rest of the fridge was not so cold.
The engineer said it was a bit odd, in that what appears to be a multi vented duct was in fact only vented at the top. The temp of the fridge is governed by a selector control at the back, this is a thermostatic duct flap, regulating air flow. It needs to be set to max.
This allows air flow, stops the salad bin freezing and keeps the temp even.
It looks like there is sensor at the back of the fridge. I cannot work out if this is just a blank as there is no link between it and the mechanical duct.
Fortunately, ours is not so noisy, less than a Hotpoint I had though, that really did pump air around it.January 14, 2007 at 2:12 pm #199811helo_75

so why do you suppose bosch supply a dedicated modification kit for stoppin the salad bin freezing, if it was just a case of adjusting the selector control?
we dont just quote these things for a laugh you know, we’re just tryin to be helpfulthanx

They came out to F/F yesterday. Guy came in listened to F/F opened door for a while then shut it. Yes it does make a noise. It needs a new fan unit. I’ll have toorder one.
I all but exploded. This is a con to get the money out of Bosch for two visits. Fine if that’s what they want but this is ‘MY TIME’ that is being wasted. They are coming out again next saturday afternoon.
I have rang and complained to the place I bought it from. L
Let’s hope that it does not start freezing stuff in the salad drawers as we eat a lot of slad and they are normally packed out with either raw salad or made up salads.
Out of interest is it both drawers or just one?

depends how well sealed it is.. various degres of it…. it would normally occurr quickly.. chances are, if it hasnt happened yet, it wont, so ur lucky
and, unfortunately those fans are low on supply because theyre changing that many.. but it will cure it, promise
hope it works out for you

What I wrote wasn’t to dismiss what you are saying, merely what happened to us.

You could try asking the retailer if you could exchange for the next model up in the range KGN34V00 and pay any difference.
It does look like Bosch are experiencing some problems with this model. New orders placed are now coming up with not available until the end of February 😯 .

😳 Sorry about that, I was looking at one of gerard`s post`s when replying.
Bosch do have stock of the KGN34V00 if you are looking for an exchange.
