KeymasterHi I have a 4-5 yr old Bosch KGU3201 it seems to have developed a problem recently.
The display shows -18 but it is below 0 but not this cold. Also when I try to set it to super the display stills shows -18. The compressor appears to be working correctly and there are no problems with the fridge operation. I have tried switching off for a period of time to reboot the freezer but this doesnt help as the problem returns again.Any Ideas ?

Hi
Is -18 the temp you have set it to??
If this is so I would imagine PCB faulty.
Engineer time Im afraid.Greg

Thanks, here are some more details of the symptoms that I noticed :-
I switched off and on again and re-adjusted temperature to -18. The temp display now shows -4 and the red alarm light is on. I noticed that there is a build up of frost on the back panel of freezer.
The fridge is cold enough at +2.
The exact model number is KGU3201/GB/05If this is the PCB is this a costly item to replace ?

Hi
The most common fault for the freezer to stop working is that the door may have been left open slightly or that there is a fault with the defrost circuit on the freezer.
Empty the freezer out and switch the freezer off with the door open for 24 hours.
after 24 hrs switch back on normally and if it then works ok if it only lasts approx 1 week then the problem is in the defrost circuit which to be honest you will need an engineer visit.
hope this helps

Thanks, I’ll try that at the weekend once I’ve run down the contents of the freezer or found another home for them.

I agree with the above comments.
It sounds like a defrost of the fridge will do the trick in the short term. But if you find the same happening after a week or so
It is probably due to the freezer not performing a defrost cycle.
This can be due to a few things.I have had a fault with one kgu3201 where the “sensor NTC” ,actually a sort of fuse for the defrost heater, went faulty (open circuit) causing the defrost heater not to heat during a defrost cycle.
The result was the a lot of ice formation resulting in incorrect air flow , resulting on the freezer not getting down to the correct temperature.Hope this helps
