I have a freezer problem with my Bosch KGU3201GB/01.

Freezer will work fine for a few hours and then it sounds like the compressor hums quite noisy and the freezer temperature begins to rise, and appears the freezer has stopped cooling.
Switching off for a few minutes then back on seems to temporarily fix it, but soon goes wrong again.

I have replaced the control board, and have defrosted for 24 hours with all doors left open. Should I have defrosted for 48 hours?

Do you think compressor is faulty? Should I buy a new fridge/freezer?

    Hi
It does sound very much like compressor, but without being able to have “hands on ” is quite hard to be definate.

Only way to be sure is to choose an engineer from the link below.

I think I will get a new fridge freezer, as have had this one fixed before and it is quite old now.

I have been looking at the Samsung RL39WBSW, or the SIEMENS KG30U625G.

Do you have any opinion on reliablity/quality of these models?

    Thanks.

    Hi
Personally I would go with Siemens as the quality, customer support and heaven for bid spares are readily available.
IIRC they come with free 5yr parts and labour also

    Thanks.

I have also looked at an LG model as Which? magazine rate them top for reliability, or would you still prefer Siemens?

    Hi
LG are fine and quite reliable.
Which are rarely innacurate in their reviews 8)
