My Bosch KGU3201GB fridge/freezer is building up ice on the bottom moulding under the bottom freezer basket.

Every week or so this melts and flows out onto the kitchen floor ( guess past the door seal?)

Started doing this about 2 months ago. Item is 9 years old, had a new circuit board about 4 years ago.

Hole at back of fridge compartment is clear. ( Drain hole for non frost defrost function ?? )

Any ideas why th build up of ice on the bottom of freezer, and why it melts occasionally?

    Thanks

Drain hole in FREEZER trough will be blocked. Acces to this is by removing plastic panel at rear of freezer inside cabinet.
Maybe an idea to defrost for 12hours first (towels down inside freezer cavity)
The hole can become blocked for numerous reasons, mostly is blue laquering off pipework, and occasionally trough defrost element.
Make sure you rod the hole all the way down to evaporator bath ontop of compressor.
As always unplug appliance before attempting any repair :plug:

Re: Bosch KGU3201GB/01 letting water out below bottom basket

    Hi

Thanks for the quick reply! I had seen other posts with defrost problems but this seemed slightly different.

I had poked in the drain hole in the fridge area and it was clear ( I could hear the 12″ plastic Tie Wrap touching metal bits! ) but hadn’t found a drain hole/trough in the freezer compartment.

Is this rear freezer panel a simple pop off? I assume it’s the panel behind the baskets in the freezer compartment, not on rear of freeezer?

    Thanks

Yes panel behind baskets. Remove round covers and you will see knibs that retain panel. They usually break 🙄 Just be as careful as you can
