ParticipantI am getting strange temp displays and no control of the freezer compartment. Constant alarm condition and continuous cooling (down to -35C as measured with a portable thermometer. The display shows 05C (correct) for the fridge, but for the freezer it shows -C all the time (ie “[blank][blank]-C” not “-[blank][blank]C”)
Is this likely to be a board fault or the freezer temp sensor? I gather the compartment sensor is behind the bottom drawer. How do get it out? (I am fortunate in having two side-by-side units so I could swap sensors to see if it makes a difference – if only I could get them out!)
Thanks

I doubt NTC fault as you would get an E? in the respective displays.
Most probable IMHO is a stuck diverter valve, which if proven will need a refrigeration engineeer to sort. Please feel free to find one from the repairs@ link on the left menu 😀Greg

Not sure what a diverter valve does or how it is operated (solenoid?).
The display shows an error (or rather won’t display a freezer temperature) immediately on power up. Is it likely that the faulty valve would cause this? The other odd thing is that when you silence the alarm and it displays the highest recorded temperature it shows 58C. That’s obviously nonsense,so does it make the temp sensor the more likely culprit? Thanks

i maybe wrong but doesn’t the diverter valve run as: one direction freezer and fridge being cooled and the other direction freezer on its own?
so if it was stuck on fridge and freezer the fridge would be freezing the salad trays? or if it was stuck on freezer only the fridge would not be working at all??
or is this a model where the fan just draws the cold air up from the freezer and no valve is used??…this would comply more with the scenarioFebruary 2, 2008 at 6:33 pm #241924gegsy

I think you are correct here kelland in all fairness 😉
Fridge temp controlled by fan in fridge. no diverter on this my mistake, sorry 😳
So it does look like possibly an NTC or module problem in this instance IMO.Greh

its blooming hard to remember wot model number has wot!…..some sensors are not replaceable and are by-passed by replacing the module….what is the ‘FD’ number on the unit?

It sounds like the fridge fan may be at fault. The fridge fan may be running slow or the fridge door is not pressing the fan/light switch to its full extent.
