I’ve an old Bosch KGV2604 Fridge/Freezer in which the fridge has stopped cooling, although the freezer seems to still be working.
I’ve read numerous posts on this and it seems to be a ‘common’ problem with this unit and many people have suggested a fix by shorting two wires connecting the thermistor(?) behind the front panel.
Now before I go charging in there, if anyone has a definitive answer to which two wires I should be shorting (and any other useful info) I’d be most grateful, as searching the many forums and posts on this I’ve now come up with 4 or 5 solutions and variations on wire colouring etc.
I know this is an old unit (well over 10 years), but I’m not in a position to replace this at the moment, so any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

    Just to add…
I don’t know if this is significant, but the interior light now doesn’t switch off when the door closes either, it just dims. Any ideas?

Is there a little red switch on the side of the light housing ? Switch this so the red section is hidden. Its a ‘winter’ switch and should only be used if the FF is in a cold location.

    Thanks nomadPaul

Sorry, no switch on the side of the light housing. I’ve had a look through the manual and can’t find any reference to a winter switch.

in that case , can you locate the switch around the door frame that switches the interior light off when the door closes ? it may be that the door has ‘dropped’ and isn’t shutting this switch off.

Door’s ok. If I open the door and physically push the switch as far it goes into the top frame the light still just dims rather than going out completely.

I did come across a mention of this happening to someone else when I was looking at posts regarding the fridge ceasing to cool and it was suggested that they were linked in some way, but I can’t find the post anymore.

I’m still trying to find a definitive answer to which two wires are required to be shorted out behind the top cover to force the freezer to take over control of the fridge cooling. Any ideas?
