ParticipantI’ve got a six or so year old Bosch KGV2604 here. Sometime in the last few days it stopped cooling. It powers up OK (i.e. the light works and the LEDs on the control panel are lit) but the compressor never runs.
I’m trying to diagnose the problem without any schematics. I pulled the cover off the connections on the compressor. In addition to the mains to the compressor motor there’s a thinner black wire which I assume is the control line for the compressor (the compressor is a Panasonic DA110E13RGY5). My plan is to supply a suitable voltage on that wire to see if the compressor starts. Does that seem like a reasonable approach? Does anyone know what voltage to apply?
Thanks 🙂

No !
Live testing of this type is dangerous :zap:
It’s highly unlikely the compressor has failed to be honest, more likely an electronic problem which may mean a new PCB but other components will need testing correctly (with the power off) to rule anything else out.
If you’re unsure, then please ask an engineer to attend, the repairs@ link below should provide one 🙂

Did you get your problem sorted as some time ago my Bosch F/F developed a fault similar to yours where the compressor switched off when the freezer reached the correct temperature but then would not switch on again when it warmed up. Sometimes however, if I turned off the power switch and left it for a couple of hours switching the power back on sometimes started the compressor and it would again be ok until the freezer reached the required temperature. I did a search on the internet for the fault and found information to suggest there was as simple fix which involed cutting 2 wires and joining them together.
I contacted Bosch and the told me they had a kit costing around £12. It turned out to be instructions on which wires to cut. I still have the instructions somewhere but it may be worth contacting Bosch.
Hope this helps
