ParticipantI have a Bosch KGV3104GB/04 Fridge-Freezer and recently noticed that the fridge compartment was not as cold as it should be.
On investigation, I found that the interior light fridge dimmed but stayed on when the door was closed. I assumed this was the cause of the warming and that it must be a problem with the switch. I therefore disconnected the door switch and found that even with the switch wires disconnected the light stayed on dimly.
I unscrewed the bulb and assumed all would be okay but found the freezer compartment was also defrosting. Next I removed the Control Module, did nothing but look at it and reinstall it. Then everything seemed to be working fine again including the interior light behaving itself.
However, by next morning, the light was on again dimly even with the door closed. I used the fix described elsewhere to bypass the thermistor and the fridge and freezer are so far working again. However, the interior light is still staying on dimly. I suspect some problem with the Control Module but don’t want to pay the £80 or so if it’s not going to help.
Many thanks for anyone’s assistance on this.

where is the appliance situated ? The interior light may stay on at about 50 {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} if the exterior ambient temp is low .

Thanks for your reply.
The appliance is in the kitchen which is usually at normal room temperature. However, it has been cold outside recently and it would be cold in the kitchen during the night when the heating is off.
I am puzzled; why would the light stay on at about 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} if the ambient temperature is low? In fact it does dim to about 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of usual brightness when the door is closed!

The reason being that the appliance only has one compressor therefore if the ambient temp is the same as the fridge cavity temp, then the appliance has no need to switch on. That also means that the freezer will be off; you guessed it, defrost. By leaving the interior lamp on 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}, that is enough to raise the temp in the fridge cavity to cycle the appliance thus allowing the freezer to stay frozen, when appliance is in a cold environment.

Eh, that’s almost cunning! The design, that is. Super explanation too Greg :). Just gotta make sure you’ve got the correct spec. bulb in there, and you’re ‘good to go’.
