Bosch KGV3120GB/01 compressor wont run

Was called to one of the above expecting to link out thermistor. However light is on, compressor stone cold and quiet, when it is first plugged in. Readings across thermistors and continuity across black wire on connector plug going to compressor and mains plug pin . This is a four pin thermistor plug (have only seen three pin versions). This looks like the module faulty to me. Does the compressor run once if the thermistor is at fault on these 4 pin models? or do the modules go faulty regularly as well?

HI SIMON thre is a mod kit for the 4 pin module…im not sure if it will cure your fault…but its worth a try…i havent got mod details to hand..but if your stuck gives us a shout..

Was it installed in a garage or some other cold place I wonder?.

Time of year for ambient temp problems.

This is the one that puts the fridge light on dimly if ouside is too cold. It is in the house. Have ordered board from QER. Hopefully compressor is not blown. Will post findings.

Well fitted board no different. Carried out mod all now OK. 1st 4 pin version i have seen.With the 3 pin connector i have always found the compressor to run once from switch on. Interior light was on dimly though.

4 pin version mod kit…by pass kfv sensor.. sorry if info seems a bit scrambled but the info leaflet i got with mod kit was written in dodgy broken german // english PM if you require a diagram to clarify mod..
pins on module connector >> 1 2 3 4
..kfv sensor runs to pins 1 & 3…you hav to cut the wires running to 1 & 3 and join them..tape up the redundant kvf sensor wires ..
you also have to cut the wire leading to pin 4 and connect it to pin 1…so might be an idea to twist 4 & 3 together put them into one end of a butt connector and then wire from pin 1 into the other end…

so to recap…. connect wires 1 & 3, and then connect wire 4 to wire 1..tape of all redundant wires..

had another look and it does show you to connect wire 4 to wire 1…but it doesnt tell you why.. i,ll try and take photo of leaflet and save on to computer…PM me your e/mail and i,ll send it to you if it works out..

On four pin edge connector DO NOT TOUCH WIRES ON PIN 2 & 4 only cut the sensor two core lead connected to to terminals 1 and 3 leaving about two inches (old money) 😉 connected to the pins, join them together, job done.

Compressor should run straight away when plugged back in, if it does’nt and you have followed my instructions as above then the fault is not with the sensors, have you checked for power at the compressor? may be blown relay/cutout.

Sparkey i followed your kind instructions to the letter and fridge/freezer was running brilliantly and cooling when i left. Funkyboogy’s post worried me when he said 1 and 4 need to be joined. thought i would have a problem when defrost kicked in but customer has not rung me to say there is a problem.

Simon, You will not hear any thing from her you have done a successful repair 😀 , works every time IF the sensors are at fault.
