ParticipantI have a 1999 Bosch fridge freezer KGV3120GB/01 which although in excellent condition and after giving trouble free service
for the last 10 years is now acting up with erratic fridge temperatures.Sometimes there is a film of ice on the rear wall (it is hard to the touch so I guess the compressor is OK)
other times just condensation.
Freezer is fine btw problem is just with the fridge….Last night we thoroughly defrosted the whole machine and then powered back up again.
Set dial at 4 and compressor kicks in -temp this morning is under 5 degrees
At various times over the last 12 hours or so sometimes up to 15 degrees.
At the moment if I change outside dial the compressor does not cut in at all-I can check again if a power re cycle resets etcI have been pouring through the information available via the search function and I understand that there may be an issue with one of the sensors?
Last night after defrosting the unit (power off) I removed the top control cover and found the sensor plug on the RHS as you look at the machine.Mine has four wires….didnt check if the plug has numbers on it but the colour codes are:
1.light blue
2.dark blue
3.dark brown
4.light brownChecking resistance across 4-2 I get 5.5 KOhms and 3-1 12.7 KOhms in defrosted state…..I havent checked since. Guess these were close to room temp readings after defrost.
Reading the posts on this forum suggests that there are two fridge sensors ie a reference sensor(4-2) and actual fridge sensor (3-1)?Can someone help advise me which two wires I should short out as there is some contradictory info some say short 2-3 others 1-4?
The machine doesnt really owe me anything but it would be a shame to have to chuck it if indeed it is a simple fix to by pass a sensor.Sorry for the long post but thought I would try and give as much info as possible!
Thanks in advance for any help and advice offered.
Regards
Chris

After searching the many posts on this issue I decided to try the fix suggested below as virtually every other wiring combination has been offered as suggestions.

That r/h connector runs top to bottom 1-4 ok?
You then need take out the connector and cut the wires no. 1 (blue) and no. 3 (brown), join together the two cut wires with a connection terminal.
Insulate the other ends that are now left which go to NTC.
Plug connector back in and job done 😀
Un-plug appliance before attempting this :plug:Greg
So as an update installed small multiblock connector and shorted wires 1-3
(light blue and dark brown).Currently monitoring the temperature and will
report back the results.update 17/07 running a couple of days now stable at 5 C -looks like it may be fixed….slight buildup
of ice on rear wall though so may need defrosting now more often but may last for a year or two yet! -
