Errrr there is no evaporator cover on KGV range 😕

Exposed evaporator, non frost free. Might be worth checking that E-Nr 😉

Could you mean a KGN rather than a KGV ?

If it is , it may need defrosting first .

Once defrosted , remove shelves and then two screws on rear panel . Take out rear panel.

Then remove two screws at top edge , holding in top evaporator cover . Once these screws are out the cover will slide forward….but only slide it forward approx 6 inches. Once it is in this position , you will need to reach behind it and unplug the defrost heater connection….i think its the 3rd one up of 4 . Once unplugged the whole cover will slide forward and out – Make sure the evaporator itself doesn’t come sliding out with it !!!

I take it that it is a KGN then ?

It would be much easier if you can get it defrosted 48hrs beforehand by getting it switched off.

If the evaporator is really iced over , the white evaporator cover is a bitch to get off as the evaporator is iced frozen to the defrost heater which , in turn , is frozen solid to the cover itself……and it is quite easy to damage the cover and/or heater.
Are you looking at fitting the mod to prevent the evaporator icing over ?

and thanks agian for the advice

There is a mod where you fit a metal ‘sheet’ over the evaporator which apparently acts like a blanket to keep more heat around the evaporator during adefrost stage.

Is it an icing up problem with the evaporator ?

If the FD number is after 8701 it won’t need the drain hole heater mod.

We tend to fit a new PCB as well as the timings for the defrost cycle has been altered i believe.
