ParticipantWell it’s been years back that I last had a Bosch knocking problem. Maybe the pills the doctor gave me then were the solution – dunno? 😕
But the symptoms have returned similar to the LAST TIME except this time I don’t think it is the shock absorber. I’ve isolated it (I think?) to the right hand damper mount where it is spot-welded to the cabinet. Only whilst the drum rocks slightly in the early spin stage does it start knocking (pretty loudly in fact) then once the drum balances out it’s fine.
But I’m darned if I can see any perceivable fracture or fault in the spot welded mounting bracket but convinced all the while that the fault is there.:con:
So in the intervening years since last I had a problem can anyone concur my diagnosis or have other ideas? The machine in question is a WFO2865GB/08 by the way. 🙂

Awkward to get in there and look properly with the small opening on the back.
Shame its not possible to try the machine on spin with the front off, but I suppose the load would spill out, etc..?

No, very easy access on this model, full size back panel, lovely 😀

Perfectly possible should you wish, just click the interlock and switch on to see it rock. But besides, I didn’t need to do that at all as it happens, just rock the drum from side to side was enough to hear (and feel) the knocking going on down there! 😕

ParticipantAre you sure it’s ‘down there’ Martin ? Have you checked the tank springs where they hang on the cabinet ? The springs are known for wearing a groove in the ‘hole’ in the top of the cabinet. and this causes the springs to ‘jump’ at low revs .
New springs now come with 2 little ‘bushings that fit between the body and spring hook. Its also possible to fix it by securing the top hook of the tank spring with a cable tie to stop it from jumping in the groove.

Well, put it this way Paul, as I rock the tub with one hand under the frame adjacent the welded mounting plate I can feel with my other hand the knocking going on in that immediate area.
