For some months now the cleaning performance of this machine has not been up to standard. Tea and coffee stains left inside mugs and cutlery left with smears. I bought new mugs as the current ones were old and worn but that didn’t help. Sometimes pots and crockery left with a small amount of food debris. The machine is 9 years old and used on average 3/4 times weekly. It has been regularly cleaned from new. I had been using a mixture of cheap tablets off ebay and Finish all in One ultra with similar results. Given an all over deep clean , spray arms and filters are clean and run dishwasher cleaner through it makes little difference. Salt and rinse aid amounts have been increased and decreased from usual settings in turn, but makes little difference. Is there anything else I can try myself? Is it worth getting it looked at professionally? I dont mind spending money on it if I can solve the problem but I dont want to randomly change parts to find that the problem exists afterwards. Thanks for any advice
Edited to say : The water gets hot and there are no error messages

are the arms able to move freely during operation. Have had a few cases where clients have put dishwasher deodorisers in places where the bars get jammed

Thanks for your reply. I can confirm that both spray arms rotate freely. I have also checked the waste water pump and found it to be clean and not blocked with any debris.

I assume you have tried different programmes as the shorter ones don’t give 3 in one tabs long enough to work

I used to use a shorter programme but for last 6 months I have been using the Auto Daily programme which is supposed to take around 150 minutes.. it usually takes a fair bit less ( fuzzy logic)

    its a weird one
all sounds ok as you have water, detergent ,heat and pump seems to be working ok so there is no reason I can think off as to why its not cleaning properly,
do you live in hard water area and if yes do you use salt as well and was it adjusted to the local water hardness

Am in Liverpool and here you don’t need to add salt as water is soft ish

I’m in the West Midlands so yes, the water is hard. I do use salt and when I bought the machine I contacted Severn Trent water and obtained figures for the water hardness and adjusted the machine settings accordingly. The problem has only arisen in the last 12 months or so. I do try and rinse coffee cups etc before washing so that the residue is not dry. My next move is to reduce the number of items in the machine at any one time in case I’m overloading it…. But to be fair I’m not doing anything differently to when the machine was new and working well.

the only other thing is a water diverter valve. its meant to alternate flow from the top to bottom bar or both. the idea is to give extra pressure every now and then. you can normally tell its working as you can hear the sound change as it switches bars

also I assume the roof jet is clear

Yes the roof jet seems clear. I have water to both upper and lower spray arms. I’ve followed your advice and run a more intensive programme and adjusted the water hardness level. This has given a more acceptable result, ( probably at the cost of more electricity and salt but cheaper than a callout which might not solve anything. ) so I think I’ll leave it at that. Many thanks for your help and suggestions Dave

Do you rinse the pots before using this programme? The machine can see how clear the water is and adjusts the time and temperature accordingly
