ParticipantThe Bosch Logixx 1400 Express has a child-lock set on. Today, when we selected the programme and followed the usual instructions to start the washing, nothing happened. We thought the child lock setting must be faulty and decided to follow the instructions in the manual to turn it off permanently since our child is a bit older now ie. we reset to the factory standard settings. However, the washing machine still doesn’t start after pressing the start button.
We have read through “Troubleshooting Minor faults” in the manual but cannot see anything there. Any ideas anyone?

Hi Dave,
E-Nr. It is either WFR2867UK/01 or FR2867UK/01
The reason being the “W” looks like / on the rating plate. That’s why I am not sure if the letter is either washed out or is not a letter at all.
The production number is:
FD 8304 700747BTW, I forgot to mention that when I press the Start button, there is a clicking noise after a while. Also, when I select 30 degrees Cotton programme, the light comes on somewhere else eg. 40 or 60 degrees.
Thanks.

WFR2867UK/01 is the model
It may be an electronic problem then given the other syptoms you describe but still well worth a look at to be honest as it’s a good machine generally.
Check the repairs@ link below for an independent engineer who should be able to help 😀

Hi Martin114,
I am not technically minded at all when it comes to washing machine. If the problem is Motor Brushes as you think, any indication of how much this part will cost and roughly the labour charges involved to fit this part. I am weighing up the cost of fixing against buying another washing machine (£399).
Thanks.

If it were motor brushes I would think (and it’s a very rough estimate) you would be looking at £60-£70 job done.

Thanks Dave for the info. I am hoping you and Martin are right about the part and cost beacuse my tumble dryer blew up this morning! 😡 There was smoke everywhere. No chance of fixing that.
I am looking at buying the Whirlpool AWZ 3303 tumble dyer (£170). Any comments about the reliability of this machine.

The Whirlpool is OK but look at Bosch as well 😉
What make/model is your existing dryer, it may look worse than it is ?

Good choice of dryer kawan, A good workhorse and well built too. Good nationwide service back up as well. We use one of the earlier versions at home it gets good use and has given us good service.
