ParticipantOur machine was stuck at the end of a cycle, with some clothing jammed between the glass and the seal. Door was locked and spin/drain options would not work.
I overrode the door lock to remove the wet clothes. Also drained the tub and checked the pump filter was clean and the impeller would turn. After leaving it off at the mains overnight (Bosch suggestion to reset motherboard) we are still getting the beeps, error lights and the door re-locks itself.
LED’s flashing are Start/Pause, 400, Spin and End.
Any ideas on what this code means? We don’t have the user manual as we are tenants and the landlady inherited the machine when she bought the house.

All help gratefully received!

Water has leaked from the door glass down the front and onto the baseplate. The baseplate anti-flood switch has tripped as a result. Drain off the water in the base should then resolve the issue I reckon.

Martin,
Thank you so much for the swift response. When you say drain off the water in the base, is this via the usual drain hose on the front or will we need to access any other parts of the machine?
My reason for asking is that this is an integrated machine so the thing is wedged in rather tightly and it will take rather a lot of ‘elbow-grease’ to shift it!

With the power off, remove the bottom panel to access the inside of the baseplate. Then with a little care you can soak up the water spillage with a towel or two.

Martin,
That worked perfectly, thank you very much for rescuing our washing machine and restoring my faith in fixing things rather than throwing them away!May 5, 2014 at 8:59 pm #403335wokman

This is exactly the problem I am facing. I have drained the drum via the usual drain hose. Opened the drum using the emergency release and I cant find any water inside.
What is the bottom panel and baseplate being referred to. I have found 4 screws on the bottom panel (but they dont seem to release the bottom panel) Not sure what I am missing.May 5, 2014 at 9:46 pm #403336Martin

You’re getting warm……. The bottom (kick) panel needs unscrewing and removing in order to access the base tray………go for it! (Unplug from main first though :zap: )

Hey Martin,
Thanx for that.. I am still not clear on what is expected to be done. Attached is a pic of the the bottom plate. I took off the four screws (circled) and have also unclipped the notch. However the bottom plate refuses to come out. It looks as if it is catching on the top. I dont want to put more pressure on it – lest it snaps.May 6, 2014 at 3:55 pm #403338Martin

No force required, ease it at the top using a flat blade if that helps, not an issue usually.

Sorry for being pedantic, not sure how I can ease it from the top, I don’t have any opening to put a flat head, unless I move it out and then perhaps used the sides to put a flathead..

No idea what you are on about – sorry. 🙁
You have removed the 4 retaining screws, it will lift away with little or minimal force. The top of the plastic panel can be eased by slotting a flat bladed knife in between the front panel and the kick panel to making it easier. Otherwise just yank the darn thing away…!

Opened… You area a top dog..
The baseplate was flooded… So have just wiped it off, will leave it overnight to dry out.
Question>>
1) how does the water get there in the first place?
2) will it be all fine once it has dried off?
3) is there something I can do to prevent it happening again?May 6, 2014 at 9:07 pm #403342Martin

Often it is from water that leaks down from the porthole door, trickles down the front panel, leaches behind the kick panel and saturates the bottom base tray.

Ensure no clothing or fibres are trapped between the door glass and the rubber door seal. And that the dispenser is clean and clear of excess detergent or blocked fabric conditioner channel, as water from the dispenser can trickle down the front label too!

So impressed by the water in bottom pan…I tried this and immediately fixed my washing machine..unscrewed 4 bolts, used a towel to get all the water up, turned back on and presto.
Only thing I will add is that to get the front white plastic front off, you need a special sort of screwdriver biit for the 4 bolt/ screws…it’s not an Allen key or a star key or even one of those round ones..it’s more spiked and will fit perfectly..might just be mine though. Great Article, I had the exact same problems and was clueless.
Easy solution when you know how/ why.
Thanks you again. -
