We have a BOSCH Logixx 8 washing machine, WAS28466GB. It is around 4-5 years old now.
It has been working perfectly until today when the spin cycle did not kick in when doing a normal wash. It was bed sheets and a jumper for information.
The load was left unspun with everything dripping.

I have checked that the machine drains ok which it does.
Both by using the drain cycle and also the freshen/rinse cycle.

However when on the rinse/freshen cycle also it did not get upto spin.
All it does is try to get into a spin and then just turn at a couple of revs per second. Nothing amazing.

I took the jumper out which was heavy with the water in it, then started the same cycle and it ran perfectly.
Put the jumper back in (even with the stuff now spun ok) and it fails to spin.
The jumper weighs about 3.5kg (wet) on the scales, just checked.
The drum (i’ve taken the top off) is jumping all over the place in this position.

This makes me think that the imbalance switch safety thing is kicking in, preventing it to spin properly.

Would this seem a reasonable diagnosis? Or is it brushes? Do the effect it?

What is also strange is that this is a normal wash that we’ve done many times in the past, so it’s rather strange that the machine can no-longer take the imbalance?

If this is the problem, then how can this be fixed (and how much approx. so I don’t get fleeced please? Is it something that I can buy and replace, or just natural wear and tear?

Also I noticed which I don’t recall seeing before a red plastic tag down. It is located behind the flap that hides the drain plug on the bottom right front of the machine. Looking where it goes (back is off machine also) it goes up to around where the door lock is. I cannot see where it goes any further without taking the side off which i’d rather not do right now. Is this meant to hang down? It does not appear to do anything if I try to push it up, just the plastic bends. (it’s only thin)

Sorry for war and peace, but I have tried to investigate as much as I can to hopefully allow someone to help. I look forward to your feedback.
    Thank you

Re: BOSCH Logixx 8 spin cycle sometimes – imbalance?

    Okay, update then

It’s the jumper !! Ran another wash and it run perfectly well, washed, drained and spun.
I then swapped out a few items and put the jumper back in (wrung it now) and it still imbalance tripped out.

I then put it in again this time layering the jumper amonst the other clothes to make sure that it did not become a mass in 1 edge of the drum and instead be spread out.
Now Mr Logixx is happily spinning at 1200rpm. Hmm, not tried the 1400 rpm since it first played up.

Oh well, 1 very unluckily positioned jumper in the wash mixed up the weight so much the sensors told the machine to play safe.

At least it’s solved now, I hope this post and response helps others in the future….

    😆 😉
