ParticipantHi all, the other night I set my Bosch Logixx 8 WAS28461GB to do a delayed finish wash. All seemed well and I made a hot chocolate and retired to bed, with the warm, fuzzy feeling that when I awoke, all my clothes would be clean again. I actually awoke to crashing disappointment. There was no display on the washing machine and looking through the little window, all my clothes appeared dry. Turning the rotary switch to various positions yielded no response from any of the luminaries. I think on a few occasion, I did witness a very faint “thud” from the machine but that’s about all. I tried unplugging for an hour and then trying again but no dice. I’ve had a multimeter on the first thing that the power connects to inside the machine (which I believe is a f*** off big capacitor and there does appear to be power reaching the machine. I’m also guessing it must be a fairly catastrophic fault to stop any of the lights working or seeing any of the error codes (which lets be honest are usually as much use as a long-legged contestant in an arse-kicking contest). So I’m guessing it’s probably a fault on the main PCB. I’m hoping someone might be able to offer some advice/wisdom/troubleshooting tips, as I’m a little unkeen to shoot however much Bosch want to extort from me for a PCB that probably cost £2 to make. Last year I did have to do the same and gamble nearly £200 on a motor inverter. Whist I did win that bet, it’s the smart gambler that knows not to push their luck.
Thanks in advance.

ParticipantHi Dave,
Thanks for the advice. It does indeed sound like it’s power related. So either the PCBs power supply components or the filtering capacitor before it. I’ll have a go tomorrow at checking if there’s actually power coming from the capacitor module.
I’ve played a little with electronics over the years and can use a multimeter and soldering iron, so I’d certainly have a go at fixing the board. Do you happen to have any tips for troubleshooting the board?
Kind regards,

Moderatormine was a very small power chip just under the heatsink TNY286DG
tested had 300v one side of the chip and 0v out

ParticipantThanks for the advice. I checked the power out from the cap and it looks good. I can see too that the rotary switch is functioning, so I guess that leaves the main PCB. I’ve had it out but I didn’t fancy my SMT soldering skills, so I’ve sent it off to QER.

ParticipantGot the board back from QER yesterday and fitted it back in. I’ve done two test washes this morning and so far so good.
Thanks for the tip about QER. I’d never heard of them. They certainly don’t like to communicate but they do seem to get the job done.
