Hi, further to my previous post my husband successfully replaced the thermistor but now we have another problem!
When opening the dishwasher door the washing doesn’t stop and you get drowned! It also doesn’t stop running at the all be of the cycle although it’s finished ok.
Please can someone tell me what’s wrong now? Many thanks.

The door lock unit will need inspecting. Either the unit itself wants replacing or the latch striker adjusting. Or, the door microswitch faulty. And a final possibility is that the machine stands on an uneven surface where the door doesn’t truly line up with the cabinet hence not allowing the latch mechanism to engage properly.

That should cover ALL possibilities 😉

Hi Martin, we’ve tried all that and running a voltmeter across the microswitch which all seems to be ok. Would you have any other ideas please? I’m pulling my hair out with kids and no dishwasher for three weeks! Thank you!

If you were to disconnect one microswitch lead from the switch (and safely insulate it) then turn on the dishwasher with the door open, then it shouldn’t work. Therefore proving the fault lies with the latch.

    Can you try that?

Hi Martin, my husband says there are two connectors inside a mounded plug which he’s taken off of the microswitch but the machine is still running both with and without the door open! Sorry to keep bugging you but if you have any other ideas I’d be really grateful! Now desperate to get the thing fixed!!

I hate to say this but it must be that when your husband changed the thermistor he must have, some how, got some wires crossed? Far from a simple door switch issue but nonetheless impossible for me to determine what could possibly have happened from my remote location. 🙁

Aww Martin, despite your remote location (were in Essex) we really appreciate all your help! I’ve passed on the message and received a groan about pulling it all apart again! He’s pretty sure he didn’t cross any wires but if he hasn’t could it be the main control board thing gone? Seems such a shame as it’s had so little use until the kids came!

Hi again Martin, hubby has struggled to find a wiring diagram but but is now saying he can’t remember even removing any wires???!!!
Please can you offer any further help before we end up divorced over this?! It’s taken six weeks so far!!! Thanks in advance.

You will need to remove the outer door panel in order to remove and closely inspect the control unit PCB. Check for blown triacs or domed capacitors or indeed any dry joints or burnt tracks.
