ParticipantHi
Hope you can shed some light on this irritating problem.
Bosch Maxx WFL226L.
Machine gets most of the way through the wash cycle then stops with the Active light flashing. The only way to continue is to move the dial to the rinse, drain or spin mode and press start and the machine continues to the end and washing can then be unloaded. Clothes are still washed OK, but this is becoming annoying. The fault is intermittent, but is happening more frequently than it was before.Machine is 7 years old now, and gets used about 3 times per week.
Hope you can help

Hi Fiona
What you need to do is check the gauze filter on the end of the fill hoses and also machine valve where it attaches, is not blocked somehow.
You need to check you have a good pressure of water to the machine also.
If all that checks out ok then I would be looking for a faulty fill valve solenoid.
Un-plug appliance if you are to investigate :plug:

Hi Greg
Many thanks for your prompt reply.
I have done as you suggested, and the filters were quite clean on each hose, and no obvious blockages, at either end of hoses. Also cleaned out the drain pump. Put it all back together, but unfortunately the next wash reproduced the same fault.I guess I’ll have to get someone out to check the valve solenoid, hope it’s not too pricey.
Thanks for your help

Hi once again
Just a thought before I call an engineer out. Greg mentioned that this problem could relate to water pressure, how I can I establish that this is the cause rather than another fault? As if it’s down to pressure, then that must be the domain of a plumber rather than a washing machine engineer?
Your thoughts on this would be welcome.
Cheers

Hi
Easiest way is turn off water feed to appliance.
Un-couple the hose off machine and aim it into a bucket.
Turn water to hose back on and see what force you get. Usually will spray back up bucket indicating a good feed.Greg

Hi
Had an engineer out to this blasted machine, and it needs a new circuit board, costing around £250. Machine now never finishes a cycle and even with an extra rinse and/or spin clothes are coming out very damp.
I guess I’ll need a new one! Unless anyone can get a CB for under £100!

Holy moley 😯 even Bosch list price is £93.20 +VAT + P&P.
Did he include labour with that £250 aswell as the module?I would consider using an engineer from the list below, some whom specialise in Bosch, just to confirm IMHO

Yikes! That sounds a bit better, I will contact an engineer from the list.
Although to give the engineer who visited me his due, he was guessing at the likely cost, and offered to find out the exact price at the time. I declined as it was a bit close to Christmas and the washer is still working (albeit of a “fashion”).
Even then just wondering at the economics of getting a 7 year old machine repaired. After all with the CB cost including fitting will be around £150 (about 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of it’s purchase price) Plus I have been looking around at other machines, and had got the idea that I was going to have a new one! :rolls:
Thanks for the advise though. If I did get a replacement, rather than scrap the unit, are there places that would recycle/re-furbish machines, as it’s not completely redundant?

Fiona – I’m new to this so hope that my replying is ok with the site. I just found the web site http://www.freecycle.org/ where you register and then offer goods – any goods – to anyone that wants to collect. It must be free though and the turnover of goods appears to be very quick. Might be worth a shot as I know the feeling of not wanting to scrap something that someone else may need/find a use for.
Hope it helps. -
