ParticipantBosch Microwave Oven HBC84E653B TURNING OFF AFTER 24 OR 36 SECONDS ON TOP 3 POWER SETTINGS BUT NOT ON 90 AND 180 SETTING.
So as this microwave turns itself off after exactly 24 seconds or 36 seconds when on power setting 900/ 600/350?/but will complete the cycle on the 180/ and 90 power levels(defrost etc…
any ideas please guys??
I can hear the double click for the door switches and opening the door cuts out the fan etc as you would expect? so appears to me to be operational as far as can be ascertained without stripping out (built in microwave combination oven/grill etc…The other heating functions work as normal, it is the Microwave only that has an issue??
initially, when (mum) tried it she repeated the turning on cycle numerous time and eventually it came on and worked normally, however now it has stopped completely π
does anyone have any clues as to the possible problem with the microwave, please?? despite the lower power settings going through the motions, I don’t actually think the microwave is working at all, but only the top 3 power settings turn off after 24 or 36 seconds EVERY TIME πI would have expected a non-working microwave to show as an error code rather than this repeated 24/36 seconds thing :/
Thanks in anticipation .. Whilst not a specific whitegoods/oven repair man I am an electro-mechanical engineer so not a complete ‘layman’ and am well aware of the dangers involved with a microwave
Thanks in anticipation πNick

this unit based on a Panasonic unit. The control unit detects if the microwave is running or not. If its not it just stops
you will need a professional to sort this. There are very high dangerous voltages involved ( 5000v DC)
there are 2 components involved either one or both may be faulty. The good news is you can use Panasonic parts and avoid Bosch pricesDave

thanks Dave, I suspected as much π
I was a touch bemused by the exactly 24 or 36 seconds though , so hoped it might be a pointer of some sort… I was also surprised this ‘state’ wasn’t covered by an error code as well as its not exactly complicated is it LOL :- No microwave detected Flag Error5,
Error5 = No microwave detected, call engineer do not use etc…
whilst I couldnt get it to work it had worked at random times the day before , Ho hum..
do these items have a fair use policy with regard to warranty? it is a few years old but surely a 4/5/Β£600 combination oven shouldn’t go faulty for much more than a year or whatever…
Thanks again anyway ..

along the line of my previous post Dave I had wondered whether the 24 seconds and or the 36 seconds cut out were indeed a code in themselves, as it seems too obvious to not be ( from an engineers viewpoint) so is there a Bosch or if as you suggest panasonic ? code refference table anywhere?
like
0-10 seconds = fan fault,
11-20 = main board fault
21-30seconds = Magnetron fault
31-40 seconds = Relay board faultETC?? as I’m sure ive come across such troubleshooting aides before..
Cheers, Nick

In this case no. There are error codes for other faults such as temp sense failure and the like.
In your case you say it worked on and off so of the 2 components that may be causing it I think only 1 may have gone and itβs the cheaper oneThe part you need is over Β£100 from Bosch but should be able to be supplied for about Β£80 plus fitting (hopefully)
