Bosch motor brushes

Is it possible to change just the carbon brushes in the motors that require a complete end housing with brushes already fitted? If so do the standard brushes fit? And can you solder the wire to the brass plate?
Just thought I’d ask before I attempt it myself. (Been planning to try for ages but never got around to it).

Yep, Many of the lads on here bodge in (sorry – solder) those brushes with the insulated tails. Don’t hold with that, but that’s down to personal choice of course. 😉

Subs, done quite a few of these lately. Yes the usual brushes do fit but are a bit long, generally have to file about 3mm off the end so that the springs sit on the ends properly. Also give the areas where you’re going to solder them a bit of a scratch up before you try to solder and use an iron with a reasonable sized tip (over 2mm), you’ll struggle to get it hot enough with a small one.
