Has anyone ever had a problem removing the Bosch/ Neff lamp covers? I’ve read on other forums that they can be very hard to remove and I’ve also seen situations where the lamp cover has ‘sheared-off’ – not at the time of trying to remove but several days after I’ve tried to remove the cover…very odd.
Any comments are welcome!
How easy is it to remove the remaining glass that is left in the housing?
They are rascals I must admit, I had problems with our own. Lots of brute force, you could try rubber gloves for grip. One of the guys on here has used water pump pliers in the past. I managed ours with the aid of an oil filter removal chain, the remaining ring left in the housing I managed to chip away and carefully remove using pliers and screwdriver.
There is now a tool provided to help remove the ‘tight’ fitting lens covers. It’s a cup that sits on the glass cover and gives good purchase which also incorporates a handle that allows a two handed grip to give the cover a real good turn !
It comes with a new lens cover kit….but i don’t have the part number to hand. Will try and get it tomorrow.
Yes , it can be removed . Long nose pliers can sometimes be used or , as Don said , its possible to chip away at it . Remember to orientate yourself in the direction it unscrews . Its anti-clockwise but don’t forget that you’ll be looking ‘upwards’ so get it right.
now the main advice
MAKE SURE YOU ARE WEARING DECENT GLOVES AND A PAIR OF GOGGLES IF YOU INTEND TO DO THIS THIS WAY
