ParticipantHi guys
When we moved into this house we inherited their Stoves 900G built in double gas oven . Now about 11 years old ,it’s on it’s last legs :rolls: and we want to replace it with an electric double oven instead. The ovens I am interested in are the Stoves 900EF and the Bosch HBN13M260B and the Bosch HBN13M560B.
Now, some of my pals on another forum are telling me about problems they have had with their Stoves ovens in relation to customer service and wrong parts being delivered etc. I am going to have a look at the ovens tomorrow but do you have any recommendations or preferences here ? Any advice would be much appreciated.
Please move if you feel this is in the wrong forum. Not sure if I should have posted in Public General Enquiries.

I used to sell the Stoves range about the time the 900g was around and I must admit the quality at that time was second to none, however the build of the newer ranges are nowhere near the same IMO. We have two Bosch machines at home with no complaint at all, I like the build, the simplicity of use, uncluttered control panels and of course the two year guarantee.

ps I also sell lots of them too 😉

Thanks for that prompt reply Don. Now my next question….. The two Bosch ovens are identical except the 560B has triple glazed doors and full glass inner doors ( as opposed to ? what ? in the 260B) whereas the cheaper oven has double glazed door only. Do you think this is worth the extra £100?

The only other differences I can find is the 13M560 has retractable controls ( which gives a nice clean flush look), extra wide viewing window to both ovens. A visit to Bosch appliances might reveal a little more.

I’m back from the showroom. The Bosch ovens seemed more refined than the Stoves which were a bit chunky and looked dated. The 560 was on offer with £100 off which made it practically the same price as the 260 model. I liked the flush controls. I find the controls that are proud attract grease and dirt and are hard to keep clean. So, I ordered the Bosch in the end.

Hello peeps. Well my new oven is installed. Dinner was a bit scary what with trying to work out temperatures and timings. Although my old Stoves was a fan oven, I did keep to the conventional temperatures e.g 200C. Does anybody have any experience of the temperatures for my new fan oven HBN13M560.I know it is a case of trial and error and numerous batches of fairy cakes 😆 I’m a bit wary of dropping the temperature incase my food isn’t cooked. What is the rule of thumb for converting conventional temperatures to fan oven equivalents? Come on you guys. you must do a bit of cooking at home :rolls:

I do all the cooking at home, the wife thinks the kitchen is something that came with the house. Fortunately, the wife works equally as hard as I do and does all the ironing so I can’t complain. Got to be PC nowadays! There is no real rule of thumb, you can use conversion charts but ultimately time and experience of using the appliance will achieve best results, it may be ages before you get your yorkshire puds right again 😥

😥 I know Matkins. I was hoping that somebody could point me in the right direction. I’m used to cooking stuff in the middle of the oven on 200C and knowing how long it will take. So it’s off to Tesco now for cake ingredients :rolls:

Hi
A fan oven cooks at a lower temperature and in less time so saves you money. If you cook at conventional oven temp and times in a fan oven you will end up burning everything. You need to get a good new cookery book, which should have a conversion table in it for fan and conventional ovens. A fan oven temp should be the same on top and bottom shelves.

Well. the lower shelf of fairy cakes took a bit longer than the shelf above 😕 I’m off to cook a casserole for dinner tonight. If it’s not cooked, it’s all round to yours tonight Washman 😉

You never quite get an even temperature across the oven, even with forced air heating – the tray(s) effectively obstruct the air flow. All you can really say is that it is more even than a convection oven.
Drop an email to admin@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for the addresses to send the fairy cakes out to………….. 😀
