ParticipantSomeone asked me this morning which to go for, Bosch or Zanussi. The’d narrowed it down to those two washing machine makes (free standing I assume) I must admit when I tried to answer I got stuck. I couldn’t pick one. I think Zanussi may be better for the reason that they are easier to get parts for and parts should be cheaper, but then Bosch have quite a few Which? best buys awards.
I was wondering if there’s a consensus on this, if pushed I’m going for Zanussi but what about you ?

Hi Andy
Bosch currently have 2yr parts and labour. Parts are easy to get hold of either direct from BSH or pattern available for some spares.
Generally very reliable machines.Greg

Oops I forgot about the 2 year guarantee – cheers. Have things improved with Bosch spares then? I didn’t think they were as easy to get from Washvac and Electrue etc. A lot of engineers in my area wouldn’t look at any of the German makes because of poor parts and tech data availability (compared to Hotpoint and Hoover etc).
Do I take it you say Bosch then? 🙂

Also remember that the low end Zanussi now have the dreaded completely sealed outer drum which will no doubt creep into the whole model range in the future. 😥

A drum change on the Bosch aren’t exactly easy either 😕
You have to cut off the tabs holding the drum together, then find a load of screws to reseal it!
But I’d still sell the Bosch over the Zanussi 😛
My line-up is…
Bosch – £300
ISE – £400
Siemens – £500Then you bounce the ISE off the Bosch and the Siemens, and sell the ISE everytime 😀

Why are we worrying about drum changes on the bosch?
They rarely have to be done, I can count on one hand how many excell/logixx bearings I have done since they been about.
They were mainly due to commercial use or just sheer abuse.
Main parts for bosch are the usual – pumps, door gaskets, brushes nothing spectacular and the odd module.Greg 😀

Definitely Bosch, Have only seen one bearing failure on the Maxx etc, But plenty on later Zanussi,s. Plus I find them easier to work on.

Talking cutting tabs off the drums, Bosch do some fantastic side cutters just for this job and no other, I bought two pairs about three years ago at around £8 each great but they remain in the box. Never needed them as I havent found a faulty drum yet.
If you need the part # let me know.
Got a bag of screws and tub seal here also. -
