Bosch Oven HBN9351GB/01 Cutting out problem

We have a bosch double oven that keeps cutting out after about 15-30 minutes. it is usually when using the top oven. i think it is something to do with top cooling fan not running and as such the thermal cut off kicks in to prevent overheating. The control panel gets really hot and there is no air flowing out from under the panel as it used to. The problem is I do not know which of the electrical parts will be at fault. 😕 I have looked on the Bosch website, but am not sure which item it is. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Hi

If the cooling fan is not circulating air then yes your oven will over heat and cut out.

Thanks for the responses. Does it definately sound like the problem is with the motor fan assembly. i had a similar problem with an AEG oven a year or so ago, and it was just a small sensor on top of the oven that kicked in the fan motor when it got to temperature? The oven belongs to my in laws and i do not want them to buy a whole motor assembly if it is a sensor? any further advice is greatly appreciated. thanks 😉

There is a cut-in stat for the fan motor. The fan motor is far more likely to have gummed up with grease and jammed. Listen for a faint humming noise after the oven warms up.

When we switched it on, there was a faint humming (like you normally hear), and a very small amount of airflow through the top vents, but hardly any. when i took the back off the oven (after switching off at the mains) and spun the fans by hand on the top and bottom, the bottom one kept spinning noticably longer than the top one, but it was still smooth if not as free flowing. Does this sound like the fan motor then, or possibly the cut-in switch? is it possible to take the fan motor apart and clean it up?

have not tried cleaning it up yet, pressed the wrong button when reading the threads. is cleaning it an option worth trying? failing that, is it a replacement motor? or could it be something else like the cut-in switch?

If you were getting *some* airflow, the motor must be turning, albeit slowly, therefore cut-in must be working………

Fan motor is a clip and twist together unit – a bit of patience and good old WD40 might just do the trick. Otherwise a motor assembly as posted by Gegsy.

Thanks for the info, i will give it a whirl and see what happens. fingers crossed should get it all sorted, if not i’ll be back to order the parts. 😀
