I have a customer with a Bosch oven, the door was hanging slightly open, so I recommended they change the hinges. Rather than get me to do it they bought a set online and did it themselves. A few weeks later I get a call asking me to look at it as it was hanging open again. They had contacted the supplier and were going to return them as faulty and asked me to replace them. I swapped them for genuine Bosch hinges and it was fine, now 6 weeks later they are back on the phone saying it is hanging open again.

I can’t see how the hinges could be bad, I’ve fitted dozens of them without any problems. I don’t think the door is twisted. Could it be the hinge receiver?

    Any advice would be welcome

would recommend changing the receiver anyway as they are cheap enough, but, if you have read the thread that Martin has pointed out, this has been a long running issue never fully resolved. Usually makes them shut tightly for a few months but then they begin to loosen up again. I think its the metal just being too soft that it wears smooth over the “heel” that the hinge roller needs to pass over to give that final push against the seal.
If its any consolation, Smeg has the same issue.

If it’s the ones I’m thinking of you can swap them over by turning them upside down.

Thanks for that – just have to try to explain it to the customer in a way that doesn’t see my buying hinges every month…
