ParticipantHi
This morning the washing machine operated normally with a full load. This afternoon I put in a new load and when I went to it this evening I was puzzled to find that the washing was still unwashed but the drum felt warm. I checked the powder and softener compartments to find they were empty. Thinking I was losing it I put in new powder and softener and switched it on. Just been out to it only to find that the same has happened again.
Any clues please gentlemen?

Observation required……….
Does the drum turn seems to the obvious question.

I tried it on rinse and on cold but it looks as if the drum is not turning though it sounds as if the motor is turning slowly. I am going to try it again once the door has unlocked and I can get the washing out.

OK thanks for that but now how do I attack the beast?
I have the machine disconnected from everything but not sure how to get the motor out. Last one I tackled had the motor on top – sooo easy.
Thanks again

In this case you’ll need to get on your hands and kness for this one as the motor is in the more usually position. Namely, remove the back panel and the motor is bolted to the casting at the bottom. Take the bolts out and you’re halfway there to sorting it……! 😉

Cheers guys – sorted. Well the motor is out and the brushes are knackered – one more than the other.
What is the best way to ensure that the belt tension is correct?

Fully sorted and operational again.
Many thanks for the advice – one brush was to 3/16 long. The only place I went wrong was buying the brushes locally (the washing was stacking up) and paid £26-00 for the brushes (ouch).
