ParticipantHi All,
I’m trying to trouble shoot this, and almost at the point of giving up and just getting a new dishwasher. But as a last shot, I thought I would try posting here and see if I can collect some of your expertise!
The problem:
About a minute after starting the dishwasher, the check water light comes on. The pump still continues to fill the dishwasher with water. Then, after about 2 minutes of filling, the dishwasher starts to do intermittent draining. It will almost “pulse drain” with each drain pulse lasting about 4 seconds. Then it fills some more (about a minute or so), before pulse draining again.
When the dishwasher is filling, the sound of the water / pump moving is constant. However there is a definite cycle of bubbling sounds – bubbles for a couple of seconds, then a gap of 3 or so seconds, then bubbling again, then the gap, etc. I don’t know if this is normal or not.
(timings may not be quite accurate – all from memory!)
The digital timer never progresses, regardless of how long it is left running.
Attempts to rectify:
We had a dishwasher repair guy come and have a look, and after some poking around, said it was likely to be the main control unit board. We bought a new control unit and put it in place (£100 down). Unfortunately made no difference at all.
I spent some time looking at it myself today. Took the filters out, accessed the impeller (turns freely) and lifted the rubber non-return valve out. No problem that I could find there. Felt around for any chipped china etc. Nothing.
Took the side off and checked that there were no blockages in the drain pipes. I was able to blow through the drain pipe freely (when the non-return valve was removed). I ran the dishwasher with the side off, and could observe the water flowing in freely and seemingly being expelled freely.
I’m now a bit stumped as to what to check next. Would be great to get some pointers!
I could possibly post a video if it would help. But would be good to have some other things to check at the same time.
Thanks in advance!
Richard

Impellor jug required by the sounds of it.
Meters the exact amount of water going in.
Unplug power if youre going in.

I agree you’ll need to buy and fit one of THESE
It’s a SIEMENS machine by the way and not a Bosch.
I hope you didn’t pay the guy for that Module Board but if you did you are entitled to a refund under the Trade Descriptions Act 1968. 🙁

Thanks guys! I will get one of those ASAP, fit it, and report back.
Unfortunately, we bought the control module board ourselves. The guy offered to buy it, but for £60 more than we could buy it privately. Ah well, live and learn.
Thanks once again. I’m actually excited to try the impeller jug and see what happens! 🙂
