I have a 4 year old Bosch self cleaning condenser which is not drying as well as it used to, (Series 4, WTW85250GB). As it’s self cleaning, there doesn’t seem to be much I can do to help it, over, I have noticed, when you remove the 2 lint filters, looking down towards the back of the machine, I can see something with fins on, which is wet and covered in wet lint. I can’t find this part on the exploded diagram on the Bosch website so don’t know what it’s called, but I suspect that this is the issue.
Any suggestions as to how to proceed? [h=2][/h]

what your looking at is the evaporator.

would expect it to be a pig to get to but try to see if it will clean itself

the dryer uses water from the draw to clean the condensor so start a programme but before you do fill the water container at least half full. that way there is plenty of water to try and clean the evaporator

apart from that is a complete strip down

you could try a long soft bottle brush to try to tease the fluff loose. dont use anything hard as the fins are very soft and you will damage them

    Thanks Dave.
Is it normal for it to be wet, theres a little water on the floor below it too.

Also, my wife always empties the drawer before putting the dryer on, should she not do that?

there should not be any water external to the machine as it would damage some floors

yes its normal the evaporator is wet. After all its job is to condense moisure laden air

Sorry, I meant at the bottom, inside the machine, not outside.

it get wet in use as the water is condensing there. it runs into the sump and is pumped up
