ParticipantHi,
I’m hoping someone can help me before I drive myself crazy over a possible fault with my Bosch Series 4 washing machine.
The washing machine has worked perfectly since day one (it’s now 3 years old) and over the last couple of months I’ve noticed that it is becoming more “foamy” when rinsing and completing the short spins between rinses.
The machine washes fine but when it comes to the spins mentioned above, the machine seems not to drain enough water away and then as it gets up to speed the laundry releases water and suds which then activates the anti foam cycle.
I’ve tried every size load of laundry imaginable, various detergents and dosages, checked the pump, checked the drainage hose arent blocked/kinked, checked the sink and spigots are clear, descaled the machine.
The machine sounds normal when running, apart from the sounds of excess water being in the drum when starting to spin. The pump and impeller run and moves freely.
Everything I can find on the web points to a partial blockage somewhere. I’ve not found any blockages in the parts I’ve been able to access.
Before I call Bosch and pay £100 for an engineers visit, is there anything else that anyone can think of which I haven’t tried.
It’s driving me crazy that I cant work the cause.
Thanks in advance.

ParticipantThanks for the response and advice. I’ve contacted one of the engineers listed via the link you’ve provided.
I hadn’t tried the sump hose/eco ball but it makes sense it could be this. I would normally have a go at it myself but due to the COVID-19 situation, I’m at work far more than I would like!
I’ll update with the engineers findings.
Thanks again.

ParticipantProblem is fixed.
Engineer visited and checked pretty much everything. Mentioned the advice from this forum and he confirmed that the rubber “Eco ball” was clogged with limescale and detergent build up.
We live in a very hard water area, the amount of scale that came out of the machine was unbelievable. We’ve “Descaled” the machine religiously since having it so it was surprising what remained.
Thanks again for your advice (and for saving me £50!)

Moderatorno probs
glad you sorted it
also if limescale is a problem might be worth thinking about fitting a descaler on the whole house
