The problem seems to be the pre-rinse part of the cycle that can take over an hour, everything seems OK after that. The rinse and hold works fine. It takes water and pumps it around OK – for over an hour!
    It’s ten years old!

Probably not heating then bathtub. Could be a costly fix my friend. 🙁

Heat the pre-rinse? I’m sure its not supposed to. It heats the main wash and final rinse OK.

Dicky timer then maybe bathtub? Have you checked out the machine? Has it been looked at by an expert at any time in the last 10 years? Could be anything you or I care to guess at this point in time without serious physical intervention. The symptoms aren’t sufficiently specific toward a more accurate diagnosis I’m sorry to say. 🙁

I’m leaning towards the timer as well. I stood and watched it earlier this evening, the blasted thing ran perfectly.

    Is it a known fault?

I’ll start dismantling it tomorrow with the WD40 handy.

    :rolls:

Please don’t spray anything inside the machine with WD40.

Not one I’ve come across anyway. However it could be that the timer knob has got engrained with spillages (i.e coffee or tea stains) and the sticky goo between the knob and fascia panel makes the knob stiff to turn. A tiny squirt of WD40 around the knob will disperse it for sure. 😀
