My dishwasher works fine until it is switched off, at which point it is very difficult to get it back on again. 🙁 When this fault first ocurred you could turn it back on straight away, but if you waited a day or more it was more difficult. Now if you switch it off you have to operate the switch literally hundreds of times before it will come back on. Once it comes on, if you leave it on it works fine for weeks. On Monday morning my wife accidentally switched it off – she’s in the dog-house! I have checked the main switch in the door and it works fine – I have checked continuity with a meter and also checked for a voltage with a meter. The terminals which send a signal (through the black (or were they white?) wires) when the switch is pressed on or off also are okay.
The machine is about 8 years old and has never gone wrong before. I have a basic understanding of electricity, circuits etc. but I am a bit lost when it comes to PCBs and integrated circuits. 😆
Thanks for any advice you can give.
If you think it is the main board cpu thingy that is dead, please can you tell me so that I can either buy a new board or a new machine, because my post has been here for 3 days and no-one has offered any advice yet! Should I skip it and buy a new machine, or is it repairable if I call out an engineer? 😕
    Guy.

I think I may have the same or similar problem.

I have had occasional problems with the machine not working and needing a small tilt to get going but now it won’t start. The display comes up with “not started yet” on the front display when the power button is depressed and when it is released the main menu briefly flashes up on the top display. I suspected the switch and took it out and tested it but it is fine. All other connectors are secure.

I fear I may need a new control module but any other ideas?

    Part number 269978

    Hi Toothbrushes,
That is really interesting because the first time it went wrong I also tested the switch which seemed okay, but when I put the machine back together it worked. Then it stopped working again so I decided to investigate further. At first I was unable to get into the body of the machine not realising you had to remove the ‘lid’ to get into it and so I tilted it backwards (a long way, nearly onto its back) to look underneath. Ureeka – that solved the problem until it was turned off again. Alas, I have just tried similar ’tilt treatment’ again but to no avail. 🙁
I have cleaned all contacts I can find and have also taken the control module out and cleaned all the contacts there and visually checked for dry joints. I am reluctant to try a new board on an 8 year old machine but I would be more tempted if this works for you! I could not find a part no. on this site for a board – how did you manage to find it?
I must admit, I am tempted to dump it and buy a Miele; I have not been impressed with Bosch having a 6 year old washing machine (also top of range) which is cosmetically poor with plastic which became badly discoloured after only 18 months and rust around the soap dispenser. Bosch were very uncooperative when I complained about deterioration of such and young machine and I will not buy their goods again. The Miele fridge on the other hand has been fantastic quality and still looks and performs as good as new.
If you have success repairing your machine please will you let me know; I will re-post here if I succeed.
    Cheers,
    Guy.
