Customer reports that she returned home to find the dishwasher had completed its cycle but she could smell a burning smell around the machine, not from inside the tub. She set it on again but got a strange noise so switched it off.

Called this morning, Ran on rinse programme for a few minutes, no noise, it drained, filled and washed perfectly.

Did a complete visual check of all components and wiring, opened PCB up, no signs of any damage.

A thorough test with my unique olfactory test equipment could not detect anything either. 😉

Set it to a quick wash and it performed perfectly again, heater etc working fine. ❓

Advised her not to run the machine again until I had ‘consulted the Oracle’ , any suggestions.?

It looked fine Chris. Might be worth changing it just to be on the safe side.

    Hi Jim
Worth looking at the water point unit plug, on heater.
Had a few where the ‘o’ rings failure had caused a dribble down to the plug and charred some terminals 😀

Did give the heater box a good visual Greg, will make sure on next visit.

Ive had customers complain of “burning” smell, when it was only the insualtion black coating at the rear getting hot with wash; coming into contact with mains cable?

I’ve seen that as well, you have to physically rip the cable out of the back panel. 🙂

…or you pull the machine fwd and it stops working ….after ripping the engulfed plug out of the socket behind the dishwasher 😆
