Bosch SGS09L12GB/14 Fitting new pressure chamber BOS497570

Hi Everyone,

I’ve searched on the forum to see if anyone else has had a go at installing a new pressure chamber themselves but haven’t found anything.

I’ve had the dishwasher since november 2004 and now had two pressure chambers fail. The Bosch engineers report said when the first one was fitted that it showed fault 1 and that the pressure switch was sticking (the effect is that on a normal cycle it doesn’t complete the rinse cycle and you can hear the pump trying to work but water only dribbles out of the heads).

Obviously its out of warranty now and I remember looking at the old pressure chamber and thinking it can’t be too difficult to install. I’ve found out that Bosch have changed the code for the pressure chamber from 480748 to 497570 so hopefully they’ve found the design defect and improved it!

I’ve removed the LHS panel to have a look at where the pressure chamber fits but I’m not sure if I’m looking in the right place. So before I commit to getting hold of a new part, can anyone help and guide me to where/how the pressure chamber is installed? Should it be relatively easy without the need for specialist tools? How far do I need to strip back any other components (the ‘labyrinth’ looks like its all one unit covering just about the whole LHS).

All done from LHS, detach water matrix and its basically straightforward from thereon 😀
Never had to chnage pressure chamber more than once unless it got gunged up with users not cleaning plates sufficiently before loading.
Un plug appliance before attempting any repair :plug:

Many thanks for such a quick reply.

Do I assume correctly that the water matrix is the plastic panel that covers most of the LHS? When you say to detach it, is this to expose the pressure chamber i.e is the pressure chamber behind the water matrix?

I remember seeing some valves towards the bottom. Do these have to be pulled apart in order to detach the matrix?

Ps My expertise is in the manuafcture of plumbing equipment so if you ever have any issues with your W.C not working properly, let me know 🙂

Matrix removal is purely because some of its manifolds fit into the pressure unit which is adjacent to it to the right.

Thanks Greg, I’ll give it a go.

I appreciate what you said about not cleaning plates sufficiently, but try telling my wife that one 😆 which is why I think this won’t be my last pressure chamber! At least I should get quite expert at it 😆

I changed the pressure chamber on Monday and everything is working back to normal again. The pink float seemed to be stuck with mineral deposits from the water.

I noticed that the very top left of the matrix just below the pink tube is black and looks rather bunged up. Is this likely to cause a problem later?

Wouldn’t mind knowing how to get the matrix to empty before removing it assuming I have to relace the pressure chamber again sometime. I had to use towels to catch all the water.

Matrix shouldn’t be a problem and the fault shouldn’t re-occur if you educate all loaders of the appliance to do what I posted earlier on 😉
