Thanks to this forum, I fixed the inlet water probs on my machine by cleaning the sump hose twice now. The gunk appears to be a combination of scale and light brown glutinous stuff.
What is this material and how does it get into this particular hose? Its directly downstream of a clean mains water inlet and flow is presumably always towards the sump and never in the reverse direction. So where is it from?
We are careful with the machine and never use it as a waste disposer. Its a 1999 model and these problems only occcured in the last 2 years of its life. Can there be backflow from the waste plumbing, leaks in the in the salt dispenser, partially open drain valves?
The machine operates perfectly but if this is going to happen every 12 monts its a bit of a pain.
Can the hose be cleaned without dismantling it?
Its on the inlet side to the sump so presumably no amount of fancy cleaners going through the soap dispenser will help.
