ParticipantHi, got 2 problems with my sgs4012gb, have taken off left hand side cover and can see that when I manually turn the timer knob water comes in, so i’m guessing the inlet solenoid is working? though when I turn the timer knob to the drain part of the cycle i’m getting a loud knocking noise from the bottom of the machine somewhere in the centre? The timer just sticks and doesn’t move unless manually turned. Any ideas much appreciated!

Remove the filters to gain access to drain pump cover. Undo the Torx headed screw to reveal the drain pump Impellor. Clear out whatever is stuck in there and refit in reverse order…..sorted!
All the above info is shown in the User Guide supplied with your appliance anyway!

Hi Martin, many thanks for the reply, tried that but nothing stuck near impeller gave it a turn and it’s turning was pretty clean around that area…. Any more ideas?
Many Thanks!

Sadly I can’t hear the loud knocking noise from here. That’s why I assumed it be the drain pump being as it it located in the middle (more or less). So time for you to get up close and personal with it and try and pin-point the location I would suggest.
You say it’s not the pump so does it drain OK then?

Hi martin, nope not draining because I watched the outlet pipes, it’s trying to push some water up there but it just rises slightly then drops back down the chamber…. Is it possible that the pump has gone? The noise is coming from that area in the middle bottom of the machine.

Of course! Loud noise, not pumping, no brainer!

Thanks, will fit new pump and keep you updated…. one question though, why does the timer stick when the pump isn’t working? I don’t know much about electronics but wondered why this should affect the timer going through it’s complete cycle?
Cheers!

No electronics in your machine, the timer is electro/mechanical. Timer will proceed but only once the water enters and gets to the correct level.
