Bosch SGS4012GB – Continually on wash cycle

Hi all,

We have a Bosch SGS4012GB/13 dishwasher which has been excellent for around 10 years but now has a problem.

We put the dishwasher on a couple of nights ago and found it still running in the morning! I opened the door and cound see it was still in the wash cycle, (the water was hot). The program had advanced to between settings 3 and 4 with the dial pointing to just before the vertical position. I manually advanced it by one click then it continued through to after position 4 and then needed a further one click advance.

I cleaned out the water matrix, the float at the top was jammed with crud. I’ve also cleaned the pipe which goes into the pump, that had blocked on a previous occasion. Tried it again and got the same symptoms. 😥

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Sounds like the timer itself is at fault and sticking in each of the ‘heater hold’ positions. A faulty holding solenoid usually to blame. Cure = new timer. 🙁

Looks like a new dishwasher then, the timer is just under £100! Can the timer be repaired?

Well if an astronaut on Apollo 13 can fix a faulty air purification unit with a piece of duck tape then who am I to judge? Mind you their survival depended on it and I’m not sure you are forced into that position with your dishwasher?

But if you are then you’d best give Houston a call. :clown:
