Last night our dish washer stopped working near the end of the cycle. The detergent dispenser had opened and there was still some water in the machine but it didn’t seem to be at the full level so the pump may have started to empty the machine. There may have been a faint burnt smell but I can’t say for sure. I pulled it apart today to check for obvious faults and a source of a possible smell. There was no obvious signs of burning or sources of burnt smells. Both pumps turn with no restrictions but the drain pump motor feels like a DC permanent magnet motor (is this normal).
Now no lights come on at all on the control panel and of course the machine doesn’t run. I tested the on/off switch and found one of the poles doesn’t seem to work (does anyone know the switching sequence of the switch or better still where I can get a circuit diagram?). I am suspecting the control switch cluster but can anyone give me any other ideas or confirm my suspicion.

    Thanks

No real info for you on this oz model here in the UK. It’s an old model though and chances are the main control module has failed rather than the on/ off switch. Burning smell almost certainly comes from there by the way.:(

    Hi Martin
Thanks for your reply. While trying to find info about my machine I stumbled across a statement from the New Zealand Bosch distributor that some machines manufactured between 2000 and 2006 have a faulty controller that is a fire hazard and machines that are eligible will have their controller replaced at no charge. After filling my machine details in on an online form I was informed that my machine is one of the faulty ones and will be repaired for nothing. Once it is done I will let you know if that is the final resolution.

    Cheers
