    Hi,

I have had this Bosch SGS43A32UK/01 dishwasher for many years and it has served me well. Unfortunately it now refuses to drain, I have checked that there is no food, glass bits or rubbish caught in the drain filter and have sucked all of the water out looking for some kind of screw or way in so I can have a look at the pump and impellor. This dishwasher inside seems to be constructed of solid plastic on the bottom and I can see no access point. Please could someone advise me of how to gain entry to this. I have also disconnected the drainage hose from the pipe to the drain and when I lay it down the water flows out of the machine freely. I am as you can see not very technical but am willing to give anything a try.

Any help or tips would be much appreciated.

Probably a blockage in the pipes somewhere either side of the sump to matrix plumbing-see the threads below re stripping down and cleaning etc- plenty of info via the search.
Thoroughly clean the front circulation pipe as described
Pull out the small black non return valve to the side of the drain pump in the sump(after removing pump cover with torx)
Disconnect the sump drain at the matrix side (2nd feedpipe from left and next to blue cold feed inlet) and blow through-this usually clears it.

With reference to these excellent threads

CJA , different type of dishwasher. This is the plastic base model where the drain pump is accessed from underneath.

To get to the drain pump , you will need to lay the appliance on its back to remove the metal base panel. The workings of the dishwasher will then be exposed .

YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE AS MUCH WATER AS POSSIBLE FROM INSIDE THE MACHINE BEFORE DOING THIS . ALSO MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE MACHINE FROM THE MAINS AND I WOULD ALSO ADVISE DISCONNECTING THE MAINS WATER AND DRAIN HOSE FROM THEIR CONNECTIONS BEFORE MANEOUVERING THE APPLAINCE AROUND.

once you have the panel off , you can get to the ‘twist-fit’ drain pump and check for blockages

Re: Bosch SGS43A32UK/01 won’t drain – Help Please

    Hi,

Thank you both for responding to me and so quickly as well. OK I took the bottom off the machine and twisted off the drain pump for inspection and found a piece of lolly stick stuck there, great I thought put the machine back together and gave it a test run. Again unfortunately the water did not drain out at the end of the cycle – I am thinking that the drain pump motor has probably been damaged and would think that my next step would be to replace the drain pump. Would you agree with this? Or please can you tell me what to check next. I am sorry to sound so uneducated about such things as after all I am a stop at home mum.

I would really appreciate your thoughts.

    Thank you

Does the drain pump sound as if its running when you put it on to drain or can you just hear a faint buzz? Sometimes if a pump has been left running for a long time in a jammed position , it can damage the motor coils and cause the pump to fail.

If it buzzes rather than runs normally , then either the pumps had it or theres something else still blocking the pump blades.

If it runs normally but doesn’t drain then you may have to look for a blockage …..maybe in the drain hose connection if its connected to a sink ?

Re: Bosch SGS43A32UK/01 won’t drain – Help Please

    Hi,

No sound what so ever – it’s dead. I did check and take off the pipe that goes out of the machine for drainage and it’s as clear as a whistle. I have to laugh as I have had this things apart several times today and can now probably do it in 5 minutes flat. There is absolutely nothing in the drain pump impellor or the cavity it came out of. When I turn the machine on and at the start of the programme it usually drains there is not a dicky bird of sound. This is what make me think that I need to replace this part.

You thoughts would again be much appreciated.

If you check the resistance across the two motor terminals a duff pump usually gives infinity-this should help confirm replacement.
A good pump from memory is a few hundred ohms

New part arrived this morning and I fitted it within a flash. My dishwasher is now back to it’s old self and I can retire the marigolds thank goodness!! I just wanted to say a great big thank you to CJApeterborough and Nomadpaul for all your help, it’s people like you who are willing to share your advise and experience that makes this a really great site. Keep up the excellent work.
