We have a Bosch Special Edition SGS43B22AU/43 dishwasher, it is around 8 years old.

Around 45mins into the cycle most nights, it stops with no lights displayed. Sometimes it starts again by itself after an hour, sometimes it starts again if you bang on the from panel above the switches. Sometimes it won’t start again at all.

The other thing is it is in a 10A 240V socket, and says on the unit it is 10A 2.4KB, but when I plug it in via a power board, it pops the overload button. I then connected it to a power meter, and it showed it as using 2800W at 11.1A with a peak of 3124W. Is that a problem, I certainly didn’t expect to see it so high.

    Thankyou

A connection problem there somewhere then. So it could be anything from the mains plug and socket to the control PCB inside the door.

It is a tad high I must agree and perhaps you may like to find out what exactly your incoming mains voltage is? In aussie it should be 240v but I suspect, as happens here in the UK, the voltage can vary from around 220v up to 255v.

Your dishwasher draws a maximum current whilst it is washing and heating at the same time but should not exceed its 10 amp rating nonetheless. Unless that is if the supply voltage goes ‘walkabout’…!!! 😉

Actually our nominal voltage is now 230V, and the power meter was showing it at 260V, which isn’t uncommon, but that should still only come to 2600W.

I have taken the front cover off and checked all the plugs into the control PCB are in firm, everything seems ok there. What is the next step then?

Check it out next time it stops I would. All the while it works OK there’s little to go on.

Or as we Poms say…….”if it ain’t broke, don’t mend it!” 😉
