    hi all, just checked out this dishwasher and the main motor fails to run

    fills up ok and then the motor just hums,

    i have replaced the capacitor and still not running


    any help would be appreciated.

    Something caught in the motor impellor I guess. If the rotor doesn’t turn easily then that’s your problem. Whip it out and find the culprit. 😉

    Motor seized isn’t a problem either. I guess you refer to a stuffed ballrace bearing here? No problem…..New impellor kit and ballrace….sorted!

    In fact it’s surprising that the coil doesn’t burn out in these instances but in the majority of cases they don’t. Might whiff a bit ’tis true but strip it out and replace the necessary and the jobs a good ‘un. 😉

    sorry folks i should have mentioned that the motor seems free and the bearing perfect.

    This model has a starter relay on the motor – part no: 187156 £9 odd from BSH – You may find the relay is burnt out and smells of melted plastic
