    Hi,

My dishwasher has stopped washing – it appears that the arms aren’t spinning. I have taken both arms out and cleaned out all the holes and checked the feeds from the back of the dishwasher and there don’t appear to be any blockages. I opened the dishwasher mid wash and there is plenty of water around but the arms are always in the same place.

I unscrewed the cover at the bottom to check on the pump (following previous advice from here when it wasn’t draining) and there is nothing obvious stopping it although it flicks round rather than turning smoothly (I’m not sure what it should do).

    Have you any other suggestions?

    Thanks a lot,

It sounds as if the lower spray arm and/or the support have worn if it doesn’t turn smoothly. Possibly the upper one as well if that isn’t moving.

    Pretty reasonable to replace:

    Lower – 369656 – £8.87
    Upper – 359976 – £14.69

As long as the water circualtion is OK, that should be all you need. An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk please if required.

    Dave.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

I’m not sure if that is the problem because the arms both turn smoothly if spun by hand they just don’t appear to spin when the wash cycle is on. It was the little propeller thing from the pump that didn’t turn smoothly.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks again,

Insufficient water entering the machine, water level system and connecting hoses will need some attention I would think. Better get an expert in to give it a checkover (see link below).

The drain pump impellor is a permanent magnet type, so will will appear not to turn smoothly!

Just wanted to say that this was the problem but I checked the connecting hose before I called an engineer and found that the washing machine was on top of it 😳 so dishwasher is now working.

    Thanks a lot.
