Bosch SGS4472ZA/17 FD8403

Hi guys,
Went back the above dishwasher today as it had on open circuit heater so i replaced the heater assembly, They now say they done an auto wash that carried on washing for 2 hours and still had 167 mins left on the display, then they tried the 50 degree wash and it got down from 22 mins to 3 mins fine then jumped up to 199 mins on the counter.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi

Just a thought on this one but had a similar problem where customer a customer reported the dishwasher was washing for long periods, but when I checked it out it was only filling up and puming out over and over all day, which turned out to be a water flow senor fault (Thanks to nomadpaul).

Good thinking but it’s definitely washing, When i left it earlier the spray arms were going round fine etc, The only thing i’m thinking is maybe the heating bit on board had has blown too, Anyone?

Yep, there’s a possibility the element took the pcb with it 😕

Often pcb can be repaired without too much trouble. See the sticky on simple pcb repairs.

Update:-

Just been and had another look – Its heating.

Basically i put it on a fast 35degree (displays 31 mins) and it went through fine down to 6 mins then jumped to 2 mins then finished off to 0mins ok -I did notice there was no drying period for this but assume this is normal as its a fast wash ?????
When i select the 50 degree eco wash – the display says 20 mins – which surely can not be right, it does however wash down to 3 mins then jumps to 167 or 196 mins
On the auto it seemed to start off ok then again jump to 196 or 199 mins.
I’m thinking the pcb has to be corrupt doesn’t it?

I think there’s something about these modules “learning” from previous washes and you have to do something to reset them when they get damaged but I could be getting it wrong. Sure a Bosch expert will be back soon.

It does seem that the module has become corrupted given the erratic ‘timing’ shown on the display. One thing I must ask you though Ollie is that in your opening post you stated:-

You “went back” so was it that you’d earlier diagnosed a duff heater and simply came back to fit it or were there other problems with the machine?

Sorry martin – i just went back to fit it, They said that it wasn’t heating – so i metered the heater and it was open circuit – changed it -thought it was happy days but ohhh noooo.

OK fine well I would ask your customer to run it through a few wash cycles just to see if the timings will settle down? The Quick Wash appears to be timing OK and the Auto Wash can jump about a lot on timings first of all but again a completed wash cycle will hopefully reset it to a more stable time reading in future….fingers crossed!

One final, final thought, I hope that the plug-in connector to the turbidity sensor was connected Ok when you stuck in the new heater unit? I’m sure you did, but…you never know, worth me asking anyway. 😉

Is that that sensor on the top or the back connector to the little board? if thats loose could that send it funny?

The back connector on the little board Ollie. It just clicks into place and I’m sure you did that but thought I’d ask. 🙂

I’m certain i did martin but i’ll have another check monday – worth a go as its really bugging me. lol. I’ve just spoke to her and the fast wash has run through fine again this morning – strange.
