ParticipantI have a 6 year old Avantixx dishwasher and it hasn’t been a jot of trouble since I bought it but this morning it was showing no sign of life at all when I tried to start it.
It is getting mains AC to the switch (both poles), the switch is working (both poles) and live is going over to the control board but that seems to be it. No lights, no noises, nothing.
To elaborate, I can read 240VAC between chassis and the plug that takes the live from the switch into the board, but the neutral doesn’t appear to take that route.
So live is getting to the board but possibly not neutral, is there something in the neutral which may have tripped thus preventing the controller from powering up?
Thanks in advance everyone 🙂

Moderatorhave you opened the board and checked for damage ?

ParticipantThanks for your input Dave, I have now opened it up and there is no sign of damage, either visually or nasally 😉

Moderatorwell its either lack of either live or neutral getting to the board or the board power supply has possibly failed

ParticipantThanks again Dave.
I have been doing some more digging and have identified all of the connections to the board. the 3 small brown connector goes to the mains switch and the door switch, the small brown from the door SW to the board seems to be dead, so it appears that part of the mains switch function has failed. A new switch is MUCH cheaper than a control board so I am very inclined to buy another switch and take it from there.
Regards, Goffy.

Moderatorin that case electrically bridge the switch to prove you are correct
if it works check its the switch faulty and not machanical lock problem
if just switch showing on bosch site about £12

ParticipantHello once again 🙂
I have linked out the failed switch contacts and am now as sure as I can be that mains is reaching the control board.
The mains into the board is a 3 way mini edge connector with three brown wires which only go to the main switch and door switch. 1 & 3 go live on main switch made, and when the door switch is made 1 & 2 go live in addition to 1 & 3. (common neutral and 2 live?)But still there is no sign of life 🙁
Is it possible the switch failure has spiked the board and killed it?
Cheers for now, Goffy.

Moderatorfrom here in it get more technical. look at the board and look for a big ish resistor that should have a resistance of around 40 to 100 ohms. find this resistor and see if its open circuit. if you find it we will take it from there

ParticipantHi Dave,
Resistor marked 100 ohms but open circuit 😉
Goffy.December 15, 2018 at 9:48 pm #459537electrofix
Moderatorright it may be just that resistor. The resistor has a dual purpose A) it stops large current flow when you turn on B) acts as a fuse if something goes wrong
So its either
A) just the resistor that blew because of a faulty or arcing switch
B it blew because the power supply chip failed ( look for a small 7 leg chip normally LNK??? ot TNY??? )
I normally change both to be certain

ParticipantHi,
I have the same issue. Reading the colour code was difficult as the resistor had burnt and cracked.
Could you please confirm it is a 100 Ohm? and what wattage? 2W, 5W?
Many thanks!

Participant@ electrofix
Dave, you are the master!!! I checked in detail my “7 legged” and it’s also damaged!!
1036 (?)
LNK 304GN
84939LI will wait for your advise on the resistor and I will also get one of the “7-legged” ones 🙂
Thanks!

ParticipantBy the way… this happened just after a huge storm… and before it happened to my fridge.
I get 241 V on my outlets.
May be I should get some king of surge protection?
thanksFebruary 29, 2020 at 12:32 pm #459541electrofix
Moderatorsorry for ne reply been away in Uganda till now with no internet or mobile signals
resistor should be 3 watt fusible at least thats what i would fit
